I'm currently in a fully funded MFA program in studio art, with my focus being photography. My stipend money comes from teaching an intro class (on Zoom exclusively this semester which is chill). Otherwise I just fuck around in the darkroom and meet with faculty every now and then. I'll have a solo exhibition in the spring when I graduate. It's a pretty comfy setup, the money is shit but it's easy work and I'm getting a degree, with tons of free studio time to make art and mess around.
The real trick will be coming out of this and finding representation as an artist, selling work, etc. I have no interest or aspirations to do commercial photography work. I'd like to get a comfy academic job at a university, but hiring is going to be shit fucked for the next two years at least due to covid killing funding.
