For black and white, you gotta find what you like. I shot only Tri-X for years but started using only HP5 this year as I prefer it. The Kentmere films are okay, but I find they're a little flimsy and scratch somewhat easily. Fomapan 100 is pretty okay, the 200 and 400 are absolute shit.
At the end of the day, for the most part you get what you pay for. I'm happy to spend $1-2 more a roll to get a better quality film.
