It's a whole different ballgame if you go out looking for a specific bird, (- in flight), sure, but that wasn't my point. I think my point was that as a beginner, I can suspect it's a great entrypoint into photography. Quite good results (if you have the gear) without needing to know all the ins and outs. IGood results are motivating. I started with compacts and later on a 35mm prime as a starter kit. I might have been more enthusiatic at te beginning of my photo hobby had I started with a tele lens and aiming at birbs.
