I have a lot of fun with a setup where my 8x10 is pointed straight down/parallel with a table. Very nice for still life/product photography type stuff.
The rollei x-act 2 is another really neat medium format camera. You use a sliding back to switch between viewfinder and film or digital back. The control module is jame packed with interesting features as well. You can also adapt any digital camera to the back.
I think most people take their view cameras outside as well. I would really love to see more large format studio work posted here. Not a very popular subject on /p/ sadly.
