I bought a couple of Nikon D1's on ebay a few months ago and paired them with a Nikon DX kit lens I my uncle found.
2.7 megapixels and APC-C CCD sensor. ISO 200 is as low as it goes.
Honestly, I was shocked by the quality of photos I ended up getting once I got the hang of it. I think the extreme simplicity of the camera with no live view, only the few basic modes, slowness to record raw image files (one RAW photo takes about 5 seconds to save) made me very careful and thoughtful with my photography.
As far as image quality goes: superb when used in the right conditions. The camera was intended to replace 35mm SLRs for photo journalists, after all. Millions of published photos in the early 2000s came from a D1.
