The bottleneck with LF is the lens resolving power itself, because it’s difficult to make a lens with full coverage of the negative that has high resolving power, so there is a wide variance of sharpness in available LF lenses. This is why I also think that 4x5 ultimate resolution is comparable to 8x10 despite being a 1/4 of the area.
