Digital is pretty bad still at capturing this, although obviously displays can handle it decently. The film is clearly capturing colors well outside sRGB color space and translating into additive RGB colors.
I never shot Kodachrome, but I've got a carousel full of some random family's snapshits; they look like they're from the 60s. The stuff is actually super easy to scan, easier than Ektrachrome, and the slides actually have texture to them. It's wild, and the colors are amazing.
