>>3032161I'm pretty sure that the idea of blending footage together with the aid of grain doesn't necessarily mean refusing all attention to exposure and grading, it's more of a general resolution thing when you're working without any budget for equipment. If you're shooting with a Canon 7D MkII as a primary and a Lumix GF3 as a secondary under the exact same conditions then one will inevitably have a crispier image than the other and adding a grain mask, if you feel artistically inclined to do so, can work as a forced quality standardization of sorts. That anon is correct in pointing out that intentionally toning down the quality of your image sounds incredibly retarded, but then again, it is a viable choice if you enjoy the way it looks and don't have the resources to do any better.
Not saying it's something you should do in every single project but if you're a poorfag then there isn't too much of a choice.
