>>4274196You're not actually gaining anything with the lower resolution sensor. I won't say pixel size never matters as the current 20-24mp FF sensors can go a little higher on ISO than the 45-61mp sensors. But as you can see here, dropping to 12mp from 20mp gains nothing, the 20mp sensor is actually cleaner.
So there appears to be a sweet spot in pixel size for the current level in tech. At one time that might have been 12mp, but today it's 20-24mp.
