Hello everyone, I need help with purchasing a DLSR camera and a lens or two.
I'm going to be filming a documentary that follows me riding 1600 miles on a bicycle to Virginia, then hiking 600 miles on the Appalachian Trail. First and foremost, it needs to be capable of taking good-quality video, preferably at "movie speed" i.e 30 fps. I need a lens for wide-angle landscape shots, and also for close-ups when I'm in towns or when I need to photograph something specific for the documentary. I have a Nikon B500 currently, and although it's a pretty darn good portrait and close-up digital camera, it suffers when trying to shoot landscapes, and its video quality is garbage. Can you guys recommend any DLSR camera and lens(s) combos that can fill my needs? Preferably something that is available on the used market, since I am poor. Thanks in advance!
Pic related is a shot I took while walking across New Mexico last summer. As you can see, the B500 does a good job of capturing the color, but I had to use an artificial vignette effect in order to get any kind of real depth when shooting a landscape shot.
