>>3952204Piggybacking on first anon, any retro hipster film in a cool box is fomapan, generic film is inevitably fomapan, arista is fomapan, kentmere may just be hp5 or fp4, possibly an older and cheaper process version of the formula with less qc. The only good black and white Kodak at any price is t-max 400, delta grain films in general are very distinct but ilford delta is an acquired taste compared to t-max. Foma 200 is a hybrid delta grain that’s still distinctly foma. My personal recommendation for shitting or getting off the pot to any beginner film dilemma,
Assuming you just want photos and winter is fast approaching, among the 400 speed films Fomapan 400 looks vintage, hp5 is low contrast and takes better to darkroom prints and post processing, and delta grain has a ‘modern’ look with almost, but not quite crushed blacks and smooth grain. If you want to learn the hard way what the 5 P’s are and why flash exists, the world is your oyster and foma 100 saves you 3 bucks finding out you can’t take a photo worth its weight in shit.
