This part is a pain, three ribbon cables that plug into the VR unit from the top half of the lens. The middle one drives the focus motor, the small one works the switches on the side and the left one works the VR motor and tells the camera information about zoom setting and exposure stuff, basically all your EXIF data comes on that cable. They are cantankerous to get in and out and you have to do it with the two halves assembled.
