first off the smoke from the fires is fucking everything
secondly your expecting too much from your gear while you will see amazing pictures from DSLR's they are not coming from an untracked 30 year old 200mm f4 lens, your lens simply does not transmit enough light especially when you are limited to approximately 2 second exposures without tracking.
Things like the dust lanes do come out of SNR which is the whole point of using a tracker you can do longer subs at lower ISO which cuts down on noise, biases and darks help to remove some noise are not a magic bullet,
75% of astro is processing the other 25% is gear and setup take the subs you have and watch a few processing tutorials.
TLDR without a tracker stick to wide angle fast lenses (<50mm >f/3.5) until you figure out what your doing or your gonna have a bad time
