Slides have other advantages tho, those being insane detail and resolution and awesome colours. There's nothing like looking at slides through a loupe on a lightbox, they're otherworldly.
But yeah it depends what you're gonna be shooting. Slide has poor dynamic range (~5 stops) and can often over-emphasise colours. For landscapes and scenery then absolutely go with slides. For people and very variable light conditions then a flexible film like Portra 400 might be the go. I'd take both and pick which film you want to use on the day - the nice thing about 120 film is you finish rolls quickly, so you can change film as and when you need to.
Slide also needs to be exposed carefully as well, more priority to the highlights.
