>>3636787I recently got this old Sigma 70–210 f/2.8. Bit of a gamble condition-wise and unfortunately it has a fungus(?) build-up that creates the haze you see. Images are more washed-out than I'd expect and any point light source causes a large foggy flare. I have another old 70–210 f/4–5.6 that has way more contrast.
Any tips on taking this thing apart? I've ordered a set of small screwdrivers which I'm hoping can still drive one of the screws that I've started to strip by using a slightly wrong screwdriver. I assume there's no way to remove or reduce the build-up without disassembly. The tape you can see is to hold the aperture ring in place because I've managed to lose the ball bearing that gives the ring its clicks and it now creeps towards f/22 without the clicks to hold it in place...
