99% of a car photo is also your location and light imo, best times, as have been mentioned here, are just before dawn or just after sunset, for dat soft light
also, when shooting in overcast, always have a polariser handy (always have one handy for cars anyway though), cuts that ugly grey windscreen reflection you always seem to get when it's cloudy
