hey all, looking to get some good snowboard footage for a snow trip video but i don't know if i should take my old handycam or upgrade to a (cheap) action camera. I don't do action sports very often so i'm not gonna invest $700 into the latest GoPro, but i could probably find a used Hero 5 for under $200 on ebay. also note that i probably won't be doing the mounted on-board video style, i'd like to get a small gimbal and get footage of friends riding. if i get an action cam i'll probably try mounting it to my board just for kicks, but that's not my main motive here. just want to know if i'll be making good use of my money by getting a cheap action cam, or if i'll get similar results out of something i already own (with probably less flexibility + more danger if i drop it in the snow)
my options:
old Canon handycam
>1080p / 30, or 1080i 60
>have a huge wide angle fisheye for it
>not waterproof though
>already own it, costs nothing
>no gimbal, but i do have a stabilizer for it
GoPro Hero 5
>4K / 30
>lot of accessories
>more reputable brand
>have to buy used to get under $150
Yi 4K
>can be bought new for $110 on amazon
>same specs on paper as the Hero 5
>probably less accessories
>good reviews on amazon but unknown brand
what do you guys think?
