>>3421924It's not that f/3.5 = f/1.8, but that to get the same field of view for 6x6 frames, you need an 80mm focal length instead of a 50mm lens. Same principal applies when shooting 35mm, people are fine with f/4 or f/2.8 max apertures on tele lenses because your depth of field narrows as your lenses get longer at the same aperture.
That's not a great explanation but there's plenty of better sources out there if it doesn't make sense. I'm not a very technical guy.
On an unrelated note, I need to stop buying Portra. Still testing Negative Lab Pro, don't know if I want to pull the trigger.
