>>3460932>>3460942>>3460952Magnification scale is determined exclusively by the width of the camera sensor/film and the size representation of the subject. Meaning, if the sensor is 20mm wide and you take a photo of a ruler where 20mm of the ruler stretches across the entire image then it is 1:1. If you use a camera with a 35mm sensor then at 1:1 the image will show 35mm of the ruler.
If you have 2:1 then the 20mm sensor will give you an image showing 10mm of the ruler. If it were 1:2 then the image would show 40mm of the ruler.
