>>3902288What could cause caffenol development to produce perfectly blank negatives?
I'm following a standard recipe, adjusted for 400ml of developer: 7 teaspoons of instant covfefe, 5 of sodium carbonate, and (this bit is a little uncertain) two effervescent vit C tablets. Apparently that works out to about 8g of ascorbic acid.
My very first batch worked fine. My second produced what you see here. What's interesting is even the writing along the edge and the frame counters have been destroyed. One of them shows signs of bromide drag, but that might just be from under-fixing.
Been doing 9-10mins at about 22°C. Agitation every minute or so.
I was expecting some strips to come out under or over developed, but not absolutely pristine clear like this.
What's slightly suspect is I'm not using B&W fixer, but ECN-2 fixer which is made of ammonium thiosulfate, sodium sulfite and sodium metabisulfite. I would have thought though if the fixer was the problem, it would destroy all of my tests, but some came out looking good.
Thanks for reading my blog post.
