an actual tip because forests can be hard especially now when there is no snow and no leaves. SIMPLIFY, try to take out as much mess as possible. a good way is to focus on the ground. the roots and base of the trunk can have a lot of interesting things going on. but it is possible to shoot tops, but I would say wait till there are leaves.
I wouldn't say I'm great, but I do shoot forests ever now and then.
