5DSR is a fine camera. It is true that aggressively pulling the shadows will be noisy. But there's enough resolution to rescale and clean up noise. Combining every 4 pixels into one pixel will still leave you with 4344 x 2989 resolution, which is plenty. At higher ISO or when aggressively pulling or pushing DR, just treat it as a 12MP camera.
And when you don't need that DR, like in a studio or when stacking multiple exposures, the camera is a relatively cheap resolution monster.
If I didn't already have EF class and canon accessories, would I get a D850 or a Sony A7xx? probably. But I'm not losing any sleep over it.
