Bayer sensors have a repeating 2x2 grid; X-Trans is a repeating 6x6 grid, but they both have 50% Green, 25% Blue, 25% Red. It's just that instead of

gb
the X-Trans will have different combinations of those, so you'll have
gb
rg
and then
gg
rb
etc. It LOOKS like more green if you take a quick glance at it because sometimes the four greens at the corners line up and you see a big green superpixel, but it's still the same number of green, red, and blue photosites as a traditional bayer sensor.
The difference that you get from an X-Trans is it doesn't have the moire effect that you get with the very regular Bayer pattern, which means you don't need to have an AA filter to prevent that, but it doesn't see colors significantly differently.
