>>3068071its because white is represented in color negative as a pigment. while white and everything clear or bright is represented in slide film as transparency. so, when you see, say, a glowing source of light like a fluorescent tube, youre actually seeing the light of the scanner comming through a hole in the emulsion, since its a very bright light source, it tends to leak, and that translates into a highlight glow.
