I find the process of finding areas in google maps almost as exciting as going out and shooting.
I too got to a point where I almost get physically sick of people who talk about gear. Their photos are almost always unoriginal shit. If I spend 2 hours researching lenses I almost *always* feel like shit and am more confused than before I started. If I spend 2 hours editing photos or looking for new spots, I feel reinvigorated.
Mike Rowe has a quote I like: "Don't follow your passion, but bring it with you". i.e Don't wait for inspiration to strike, go out and shoot.
