Yeh, that's a tough one. In this conflict, it's pretty rare for snipers and whatnot to target journalists since neither side wants to be framed as being violent. In the past I have actually stripped off all of my press signs on my vest to hide that I was a journo, since as soon as the other side realises there is a member of the press there they start behaving well.
The reason I chose to put it on the car: It is an old 4WD, the kind of car which is commonly used by local military, or worse, militia forces. Bc of the type of car, and areas I was driving in it made sense to put it out there, since it would be more dangerous for me to be mistaken as enemy forces.
I remember my first day on the frontline, I asked if the other side target journalists. The soldiers didn't know and said I should stand up (we were in a foxhole) and see for myself hahaha.
