Depends on the body. I'll have to dig up another attempt where I photograph the Milky Way. The attached shot was taken with a Canon 6D, ISO 6400, several shots layered to reduce noise. I admit it looks a little washed out, but that's more due to my botching the overlay, plus light pollution. You can see a bit of the Milky Way at the right edge. The compass of my mobile phone gave wrong information.

I forgot, the attached exif shows the settings of a single shot.

If you plan to avoid trails, you need a shutter time of 500/(focal length) on full frame. The attached shot is a stack of several shots, where the stars where aligned with Sequator. Again stacking/averaging reduces noise.
