If you can't see the face or there is not an immediate story-telling element then there has to be something about it that is compelling enough for you to take the shot. Hopefully others will see it with the same interest that you had when you took it.
Otherwise you have to do some newb-ass spot-colouring post work to make it pop but you shouldn't do that either ... it's even worse than shooting people backs.
Check youtube, thoroughly, for tips to better your shots.
