Okay, Im fucking stupid or whatever but - how do I properly use fill flash?
I have Nikon D750 and this flash, Yongnuo YN685. If I use build-in flash, I can easily use this technique with pointing at bright part of object, holding exposure lock, arrange composition again, pointing at darker part with lock still pressed and shoot - flash fire at required (sort of) power, everything looks fine. But when I try to use same procedure with external flash, it never works - either it don't fire at all or fire at full power. If I set either PV or exposure lock buttons to lock only flash power, flash still ignores it and fires at whatever power it consider needed (and no, its in i-TTL mode, not manual) Likewise manual claims it supports "modelling flash" but it doesn't work - aperture preview button does just that instead of "modeling flash" as both YN and Nikon manuals claims.
Each time I google "how to use fill flash", I get this annoying text about what IS fill flash, WHEN to use it (I fucking know that) but without any explanation on HOW to use that, sometimes even with annoying as hell "... and thats how you use fill flash" after long text about what it is and when to use it, apparently its "point at shoot" according to these people. Too bad it doesn't work for me.
