I feel you, I used to feel the same about my area but I started to do two things:
>Walk around my area more and more, at different times of day, as much as possible to discover new placeswhich worked really well.
>Take the bus/train regularly to go to places around my area that I found interesting.Hell, you'll be spending the better part of a Saturday for coffee, brunch and a new environment to shoot in. Doesn't sound too bad, and I live in Britain as well.
