Yes, the lack of diversity in photography is a problem but lack of lower and middle class photographers is even a bigger problem. By forcing diversity you get all these sheltered rich kids who take their inspiration from other contemporary rich white photographers. That's why most of them end up having no unique voice of their own. So it doesn't help much and everything becomes boring and predictable.
It really hurts me to see the people who are like photography majority of them are obsessed with gear rather than the art form itself.
Art Photography is still controlled by institutional cultural elite. That's why it's pretty conservative, repetitive, full of liberal narratives and boring for most of the time. We need madlads to deconstruct those institutional walls in order to revolutionize this art medium.
Photography badly needs a punk movement.
