Sergei Bolachenko. He used to run a website at infojd dot ru. It was a monument of train autism. Over decades he covered a significant portion of the former USSR documenting every train line, station, tunnel that he could find. He'd dig up old information from gov docs and write long blog posts to go with each trip. Lastly he'd include photos of the travel itself, which proved to be so fascinatingly sincere and earnest. The man was a force of nature. I just found out his old website died last year. I don't know what happened to him. I'm worried frankly. There's a really good torrent of his photos on rutracker, which I continue to seed.
