>>3574887Many people who start out think they NEED the gear as a pre requisite to try shit out. This thought prevents them from getting started and from shooting their amateur shorts, documentaries, first full features or whatever. This is bad. They think the difference between phone vs good cam is humongous and that EVERYONE will be able to tell. Truth is most of the audience won't care that much, specially if they were smart enough to shoot in lighting conditions/locations that hide best the differences. Yes, pros may see it, but again, pros will understand that what's important is the story, the potential, the editing, the thought, etc. In fact, most pros will appreciate the effort of good shit done with little resources. You can have the best camera in the world but if your editing sucks and your story is lame it will be shit. OR you can have a cool story with motivated actors and a great editing and great sound post, shot with a 2015 phone, and people will like it better than the muh cinema lenses one.
What we have today is paradise. Any phone and computer is 1000 times better and cheaper than what we had in the 90s. Everyone can do it. Whoever chickens out because he thinks he doesn't have the gear is a faggot.
