I also use the adapter with a Canon 28-80 ef zoom and with a 18 55 canon kit lens, wich is stabilized and it's excellent for handheld videos on my Sony (despite the average IQ of the lens)
I really can't spend 1500€ for a lens/camera,
necessity is the mother of invention
