I want to "scan" all of drawings by taking photos of them, for personal archive purposes. I don't want to use the kit 18-135 that I have, because it is soft at the edges, even when stopped down. I'll be using my old 7d mark ii. These drawings aren't important enough for me to upgrade to full frame/a newer body, but they are important enough for me to upgrade my lens. I'm thinking of getting some variant of an EF 24-70. Many of them can be bought for around $500 used, which is about exactly what I want to spend. Any thoughts on which particular lens would be best?
