Over expose a bit (or ETTR, as it's been known for decades), and in the RAW conversion pull the exposure slider and push the X3 Fill Light slider.
The highlights will be recovered, and you'll still have room to work on the shadows without that gross green and purple splotching showing up.
This camera dominates my 550D and GR for dynamic range when you use it this way.
