I just got my chinese carbon fiber tripod (q666c) for $60 and it's pretty nice and compact for traveling. The only concern I have is I'm scared of breaking the leg locking mechanism by pulling too hard. Also, it feels really stiff moving the parts around right now, but I assume that it will get loose with wear.
Waiting for my chinese peak design capture clip to come in to see how that works out. Made a paracord wrist strap like in pic that will also function as a backup safety tether in case the capture clip is shit and breaks.
