>>3726883What's charming to me about our coastal graveyards is how much it's the norm to have a customized headstone of some sort. Nothing fancy generally, but it's a glimpse into someones life beyond their name and dates. I've found myself researching who some of these graves belong to out of sheer curiosity. Between that and the tradition of Decoration Day still being very strongly upheld, it gives these places tremendous character beyond simply being "sad"
