Dont give me the lower aperture as a reason because you have to stop the 2.8 down to 4 or even 5.6 anyway to get a nice sharp image. Olympus stab is the best in the business for handholding long exposures so they can make up for it in low light. The 12-45 is probably the sharpest lens in the whole olympus lineup, is much lighter and smaller and has less contrast than the 12-40, which mft already has plenty of with the gimped dynamic range.
Its literally better in almost every way for 95% of people. It balances on an em5 perfectly compared to the hulk of the 12-40. Its such a good combo that olympus sells it with the em5 as a combo at a great price, but noone buys it and its on discount all the time. Ok, so you miss out on the manual focus clutch and the function button. Honestly, do you really need that?
