Well you all are just going to love this then. After talking awith another photog buddy of mine over Christmas, I've decided to bite the bullet and by into MFT, for a number of reasons. First off, I'm tired of how big my 5D Mk. IV is. Second off, I hate shooting video on it. Thirdly, it looks terrible, like some kind of 90s econo-shitbox car. And then a whole host of technical reasons I don't care to elaborate on. Mirrorless is where it's at for sure, and I'm just not satisfied with any of the FF mirrorless options right now. However, I do love, LOVE my Canon glass and really can't see myself parting with it. So here's what I've decided on my kit being for 2020:
Sell:
>5D Mk. IV w/grip and accessories for about $2800
Buy:
>Olympus EM1 Mk. II
>Metabones Cine XL 0.64x Speedbooster
>Metabones EF to MFT adapter
Keep:
>Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM
>90-256mm f/1.8 w/speedbooster
>140-400mm f/2.8 w/adapter
>Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM
>64mm f/0.7 w/speedbooster
>100mm f/1.2 w/adapter
>Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM
>20-45mm f/2.5 w/speedbooster
>32-90mm f/4 w/adapter
Then sometime in early 2020 to fill some gaps in the kit I plan to buy:
>Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm F2.8 PRO
>Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm F4.0 PRO
>Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm F1.2 PRO
And that will do me. I'm super excited, there's nothing like a little GAS to start the New Year!
