The EOS M is a mirrorless APS-C camera. As a result of the short flange distance, lenses can be designed for it which are very small and compact. The Fujifilm mirrorless camera system has small lenses that are native to the system, so it is possible for Canon to do the same thing. You believe that EF lenses, which were designed for full frame DSLR's, are the same thing as lenses designed for mirrorless APS-C cameras. This is where you went wrong. In size and weight, they are many times bigger than they should be. Yes, you can adapt EF lenses, but why the hell would any sane, rational person want to? They wouldn't.
As an example, the EF-M lacks a fast normal lens. It's just not there. I'm talking 27-35mm focal length range, f/1.4-f/2 aperture. No such lens exists. Sure, you can adapt the EF version of this lens, which weighs almost 2 pounds and is 4 inches long without the adapter. It handles like a telephoto zoom on the small body, comparatively, and makes your compact mirrorless camera into an unwieldy beast that looks like it belongs on the sidelines at a football game. By contrast, Fujifilm has a small, fast normal lens for their mirrorless system - 35mm f/1.4. It only weighs 6.6 ounces and measures 2.16 inches long. That's why Canon needs to develop their EF-M lenses. Nobody fucking wants a mirrorless camera that they have to adapt full size lenses on.
