Recently got a A7m2 and looking for a fast portrait lens now.
I allready have the Sigma MC11 for another, 2.8 wide angle zoom, which works decent. Because of this I'm considering the Canon EF 85mm 1.8 USM which is as low as 200€ on the used market. Better would be of course the native FE 85 1.8 but its still 500€ used. Sigma EX version would be 500+, tamron 85 even more. Other options would only be all manual like Samyang 85 1.4, A nikkor with aperture ring adapter or what ever.
Question: Does the Canon lens work good enough to work as an placeholder till I can afford the Sony lens some day?
Another option would be to get a 50mm 1.8, again either canon for ~50€ or sony ~150€. The Sony is supposed to not have the best AF (slow, noisy) so I'm not sure if its even better then an adapted Canon. Or Sigma 50 1.4 ~200€ (I'd rather get the 85 canon at this point)
