I saw one of these the other day and it's REALLY small. I kind of like the idea of having a small, lightweight DSLR that still has a modern, high quality sensor, which I could throw in my car for back up or when I may not bring my main DSLR. The price, with kit lens, of $400, seems too good to be true. I remember buying digital point-and-shoot cameras for only slightly less than that. I can probably find a used one for $300 and keep it around as a back up to my main DSLR.
Will I have too many issues with the simplistic, beginner-like controls if I don't plan to use the auto or scene modes at all? I don't like the lack of a top LCD, but I think I could get used to looking at the display inside the eyepiece. Is it possible to change the controls without the rear screen lighting up in my face at nighttime?
