/macro/ question here.
>Current gear : 550D w/ 18-55 IS II, 24mm EF-S & 55-250 IS
Would like to get get a real macro lens, not overly expensive, and seek advice regarding this choice. Potential targets are as follows :
- Canon EF-S 60mm USM f/2.8 macro
- Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 macro IS USM
- Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 DI VC USD macro
- Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Ex DG Os Hsm macro
- Sigma AF 50 mm, or 70mm, Ex DG macro
These are among the classic choices, I know.
>Yup, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 IS USM macro is way too expensive
When I say I wanna do macro, I don't mean butterfly chasing or stuff like that. I'm more interested in textures, big close ups on mostly inanimated objects, light plays and reflections (see pic related). Things that I can get close to and will stay still mostly.
And considering the gear I already own, I figured something between 50 and 100 mm would fit nicely, could also be portrait-friendly. But as I don't/can't use pods a lot, I fear I'd be really handicapped by a lack of IS, which only a few of my targets have. So, whaddya think ?
