First couple of test shots I took with the lens some of them came out very sort but I noticed there was some smudges on the rear element so I wiped them off and now it's quite sharp given the photo of the flowers compared to pic related. I'm really really hoping it's just that I'm not using to shooting such a long focal length on a medium format negative or something and need to practice like you said. Before this I've only ever used a 90mm on my Fuji GW690 and I got really good at nailing focus on that.
