That sounds like a meta subject, photography (content) about photography (process). So, gear is going to be in it, because just like the most faithful idealist philosopher cannot live without his blood, even most ascetic of photographers needs a camera to make a photograph. It's just how it works.
You might be expecting something different? For example, if you want photos of cars, don't search photography. Search cars. If you want photos of nature, don't search photography. Search nature landscapes. If you want photos of pussy, don't search photography. Search porn.
You might be looking for street or abstract art photos. I just don't know. But yeah I agree gear is kind of everywhere right now it's like trying to find Hitori Bocchi, and seeing some pink hair instead.
