We get it, you're clinging on to your artistic skills because you're self conscious about your "alabama swamp rat" background, but manifesting that as arrogance just makes it impossible for you to improve. The fact of the matter is that photographs composed simultaneously for black and white as well as your post processing will have generally better compositions, resulting in an overall more interesting image. You have two skills, obviously. Why are you so closed to combining them, because someone else thought of it? Get over yourself.
