>>3559443Just started using my unit 2 days ago, overcast bright sky. It has a -5 to +5 brightness setting, I use the 0 default and have no issues. Just bump to +5 or use left hand to roof the screen if really needed.
MF is usable. The AF-S, MF, AF-C selection button in the bottom rightmost side of the touch screen to easily cycle. MF has focus peaking, with or w/o magnification. Distance scale will be displayed in MF mode and distance selection, via turning the focus ring.
If you set a distance, the camera will retain the distance as long as you're in MF mode only.
- switching within PASM modes
- turning Off and On the camera
The MF distance scale will change if you use AF-S then back to MF since it will follow the last distance in focus.
My gripes when using MF:
- right hand middle or ring finger can accidentally move the focus ring and change the focus distance
- the play of the focus ring is slow from 10cm-0.5m (requires more turning if you're in a hurry to go to the farther distances) and suddenly fast and comfy starting 0.5m to infinity.
Overall, it's usable if you don't want the snapshot mode (2m at f8, 5m at f5.6) values especially in low light when you want to MF using f/2.8 with any desired distance.
