So you'll have to guess the exposure or use an external meter like it's 1970. Also, the focusing screen on D5300 is poorly suited for manual focusing since it has no microprisms like on old cameras, and does not show proper depth of field above ~f/2.5, so if you have a faster lens, stuff that looks sharp in the viewfinder might not be sharp in the actual shot. Also also, Nikon F mount has the longest flange focal distance of all common lens mounts, so you can't easily adapt lenses from other systems like M42.
tl;dr you have one of the worst cameras for use with vintage lenses so probably don't bother
