i see the attached image come up often as an "explanation" of what microcontrast is.
i just don't understand then why microcontrast can be quantified vis-a-vis an mtf chart. why, if microcontrast is an important and desireable attribute of a lens, is nobody quantifying it and showing off how lens x is better than lens y.
ive seen the term accutance passed around but i don't understand it fully.
